WOMEN AND WIDOWS
Poverty Alleviation Program
In about 75% of rural communities in Uganda, It’s women/widows and grandparents who assume much of the responsibility for orphaned children ultimately. The income generating capacity of these women/widow headed households is profoundly constrained by numerous dependent children, lack of opportunity to accumulate productive resources like cattle, goats and farming implements and difficulty in gaining access to credit. They are further constrained by limited education and training which limits their employability.
CSHF has encountered this trend by organizing widows and women in groups and then offering them training in different skill sets such as tailoring, crafts, agriculture and farming. The women work on skills of their own choice and demonstrable ability for sustainability. CSHF then raises funds for support to buy things like sewing machines for widows in their groups, supplies for crafts, livestock, seeds and manure.
They are as well taught financial skills and management so they can control their income generating activities to enable them know when progressing or not and we believe that with this support, one day all families in Uganda will live a better family life.
Sponsor a family with a livestock seed like a cow, goat or a pair of chicken to boost their income or Agricultural empowerment with tools and seeds. A donation of US$70 can buy a goat and an agricultural tool like a hoe for a family.
Bright Nights

A gift of US$ 60 can help buy a small portable solar kit for a family to have bright nights in their grass-thatched huts hence reduction on the fire risks and accidents and enable their children revise their books at night for better performances at their schools
Every society needs energy to thrive. Basic health providing medical clinics, government offices, banks, schools and stores all need a reliable source of electricity if they are going to provide optimal service. Cornerstone Hope Foundation is working on projects to turn on the lights for every individual in remote areas, which will improve the country’s overall development.
Human kind has realized that the time has come to replace the use of traditional fuels and energy sources and now focusing on use of unconventional and reliable energy sources other than oil and gas. Human race is determined to look for alternative ways of producing electricity and heating homes in an environment friendly way. Historically, we have relied on wood to meet most of our energy needs. With the coming of the Industrial Age, we discovered the use of ancient fossil fuels, and learnt how to generate power from nuclear energy and large Hydro dams.
Global climate change possesses such an enormous threat to our civilization and to species and ecosystems all around the world that we must strive to achieve a full transition out of fossil fuels by 2030.
CSHF is responding to the need for training communities on energy saving and reduction of other long-term threats to the environment brought about by deforestation for charcoal. The Foundation is helping remote communities to get access to solar power for brightening up their nights and in this way school children can read their book at night hence improving on their performance thereby bringing a bright future to their respective families.
